PRI Plus marks first year of UV acrylic coating

A 40" coating line combines precision curing, integrated inspection and repeatable production for aggressive UV acrylic label constructions.

At LOUPE Americas 2026, PRI Plus is explaining that one year after installing its UV acrylic coater, the company has completed a full year of refining the equipment, curing levels and production recipes behind its UV acrylic pressure-sensitive label constructions.

The 40″-wide coating line applies UV acrylic adhesive with 2–3% coat-weight accuracy and consistent coverage from edge to edge. Closed-loop adhesive delivery helps prevent impurities, while automated tension control maintains a stable web throughout production.

Quality and inspection are built directly into the line. The system continuously scans for defects, logs production data for every roll and stores coating recipes for repeatable results from one order to the next.

Oversized, high-intensity UV lamps provide cure across the entire web. Integrated sensors monitor cure levels throughout production, eliminating the need for secondary curing and producing constructions ready for clean converting.

“When we installed the UV coater, the goal wasn’t simply to add another adhesive technology,” says Jason Crooks, president of PRI Plus. “We wanted to make UV acrylic perform like a PRI Plus adhesive—durable, aggressive and consistent from one roll to the next. After a year of refining coat weights, cure levels and production recipes, we have it dialed in.”

UV acrylic adhesive is applied as a 100% acrylic hot-melt without water or solvents, then cured using UV energy. The process creates the internal strength associated with acrylic durability while eliminating solvent use and VOC emissions.

Acrylic adhesives traditionally offer lower initial tack than rubber hot-melts and build adhesion over time. PRI Plus has fine-tuned UV exposure and coat weight to push initial tack higher while maintaining the cohesion and long-term performance expected from an acrylic.

The resulting constructions offer resistance to heat, chemicals, oil, moisture, weathering and sunlight, along with broad application versatility and greater adhesive clarity. For converters, the technology can also support easier die-cutting, faster line runs, less scrap and reduced downtime.

PRI Plus markets its UV acrylic adhesive constructions under the zillaBite name. The company is featuring zillaBite at LOUPE Americas 2026, where visitors can meet the PRI Plus team, discuss applications and collect product samples at booth 1243.
